At the surface, it looks like a plain hpnotic trip techno world but, behind the mechanized beats, something big is happening. The boys continue to sound like Joy Divison climbing up a rainbow with swapped colors, as if they`ve found the hole in the tree that takes them to Wonderland. For a love like this, we can feel nothing but admiration.
Uma deliciosa caixinha de música negra, perfumada com a essência da folk, onde uma bailarina se diverte ao som de uma experimentação com sabor a campo numa tarde cinzenta. Um disco que nos traz à lembrança o inverno, os pequenos demónios que nos habitam e uma vontade louca de não sair de casa. "We’re all going to end up dead and gone…", cantam os Tunng em "Hands". E nós cantamos com eles, espantando os desejos íntimos pintados a negro.
A delicious dark music box, perfumed with folk essency, where a ballerina has fun dancing to a sound that tastes like the field on a grey afternoon. A record that reminds us the winter, the little demons that inhabit us, and a crazy wish of never leaving home. "We’re all going to end up dead and gone…", sing Tunng in "Hands". 13. Of Montreal | «Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?»
O mundo dos Of Montreal é um universo musical construído com cenários retirados da Cartoon Network, servindo como estimulante banda sonora aos estranhos e belos desenhos animados que passam incessantemente no Nickelodeon. Os seus elementos poderiam, também, habitar dentro de um ZX Spectrum, vestindo-se como Chucky Egg`s na perseguição de ovos imaginários cozidos de todas as cores. Se os extraterrestres invadissem o nosso planeta, seria certamente este o disco que teriam a tocar no cockpit de uma nave espacial em puro delírio. Alienado, bizarro, maníaco e alegremente depressivo, deve ser ouvido num imparável loop.
Their world is a musical universe built with scenarios taken from Cartoon Network, serving as an OST for the strange and weird cartoons that pass on Nickelodeon. The band members could live inside a ZX Spectrum, dressed like Chucky Egg`s chasing boiled imaginay eggs painted in all colors. If a company of aliens invaded our planet, this would be the CD that would be playing at the cockpit of a spaceship in pure delirium. Alienated, bizarre, maniac and joyfully depressive, to be listened to in a constant loop.

Contando com a voz repleta de cicatrizes do pastor Mark Lanegan, o disco actua como um ritual de celebração, um transe no qual nos deixamos levar de alma escancarada. Apesar de se notarem na leitura destes salmos influências como a do apóstolo Sparklehorse, trata-se de um sermão com direito a edição própria, saindo como separata a uma nova e renovada Bíblia. Esta é a banda-sonora ideal para todas as excursões e peregrinações com destino a Fátima.

If with «Funeral» we walked in a world populated with dark shadows and apparted souls, where violins cried between sorrows and tears, in «Neon Bible» we breathe a desire of faith, and the will to believe that the world will become a happier place. The canadians did it again.
Não se trata de um disco fácil, de melodias lineares e refrões para se cantar a plenos pulmões. Esta pop electrónica soa a Beatles mergulhados no caldeirão de Panoramix, a uma visita de autocarro pelo coração da Índia onde nos vêm à memória os momentos marcantes de uma banda chamada Beach Boys. Trata-se de um disco que se descobre a cada audição, como um acto de magia: melodias subliminares, pássaros que cantam, trovões que rebentam, instrumentos que despertam, vozes que sussurram, cores novas que se juntam alegremente ao arco-íris clássico. Os irmãos Coen, dupla-maravilha do universo cinéfilo, tornaram-se nos novos reis da Grande Maçã ao vencerem quatro dos prémios atribuídos pelo Círculo de Críticos Cinematográficos de Nova Iorque - que serão entregues a 6 de Janeiro.
Com «No Country For Old Men», os Coen venceram nas categorias de Melhor Filme, Melhor Realização, Melhor Argumento e Melhor Actor Secundário - para o espanhol Javier Bardem.
Da lista de premiados hoje divulgada pela associação nova-iorquina de críticos cinematográficos, ficam alguns destaques:

The Coen Brothers, double-wonder-team from Planet Cinema, have been crowned kings of the Big Apple, winning four prizes assigned by the New York Film Critics Circle - that will be presented at a ceremony in New York on January 6.
With «No Country For Old Men», the Coens won the categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor - for the spanish Javier Bardem.

Depois de em 2006 ter alterado as datas vezes sem conta, este ano a organização do Festival para Gente Sentada deixou uma vez mais no ar a ideia de pouco profissionalismo. Se no início a grande dúvida era escolher entre dois fins de semana de Novembro, com o aproximar da data a decisão foi a de atirar com o festival para o ano seguinte. Claro que isto não significa que a qualidade vá ser menor que em anteriores edições, mas a verdade é que denota pouco profissionalismo e capacidade organizativa. Ponham os olhos no FMM e talvez aprendam a cumprir prazos.
Agora que ficou feito o reparo, o Fusco avança com o primeiro nome do Gente Sentada 2008. Richard Hawley, o britânico que em tempos foi guitarrista nos concertos dos Pulp, visita a Lusitânia pela primeira vez desde que em 2001 iniciou a sua carreira a solo. Traz na bagagem «Lady`s Bridge», disco editado este ano onde o espírito retro, o amor eterno e a devoção apaixonada ao ser celestial repleto de curvas coabitam em perfeita harmonia. Encontro marcado para dia 23 de Fevereiro em Santa Maria da Feira (Cine-Teatro António Lamoso).
After rescheduling the gig dates a few times in 2006, this year the Festival para Gente Sentada organization kept transmitting the idea of professional spirit in a low scale. If in the beggining the doubts were between choosing one of two weekends in November, in the end the decision was to throw the festival into the new year. Of course this doesn`t mean that the quality will drop down, but the truth is that reveals a sense of unprofesisonalism and a questionable capacity in organizing events. Look into FMM as an example.

As notícias são as de iremos encontrar cantores gospel, apitos que soam como latas, tubas delirantes e um quarteto de cordas que acompanha muitos dos temas. Espera-se, portanto, algo totalmente inesperado. Fica o alinhamento de «Sixes & Sevens», e também a hipótese de recordar alguns temas do intratável – e absolutamente genial – «Friends of Mine».
