O resultado será uma deliciosa receita com sabor a Escócia, conhecida no mundo gastronómico como Make Model. Ainda só escutámos duas canções, mas deixaram-nos a boca a chorar por mais água. Ou whisky, se preferirem algo mais forte.

Take Arcade Fire`s existencialistic despair, add Flaming Lips spacial side and mix everything with the exultant choirs and contagious joy from I`m From Barcelona. The result will be a delicious recipy, Scotland tasting, knowned in the gastronomic world as Make Model. We`ve only heard two songs, but they left our mouth crying out for water. Regresso ao passado extinto / Back to the extinct past

Uma dupla aparentemente estranha - Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) e Boom Bip (Leftfield) -, com o psicadélico nome Neon Neon, decidiu gravar "Stainless Syle", um disco conceptual sobre o senhor John DeLorean, um apanhadinho dos carros desportivos de chapas de aço e portas em forma de asas que ficaram famosos por aparecerem no tríptico "Regresso ao Futuro".

Apesar da abertura de asas estar marcada apenas para 2008, já acelera na autoestrada virtual o tema "Raquel", ode a uma pin up dos anos 60 de nome Raquel Welch. Trata-se de um tema tão pop, tão pop, que os rapazes tiveram de acelerar durante horas até um passado longínquo e julgado extinto.


A strange double team - Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Boom Bip (Leftfield) -, psychadelically named Neon Neon, decided to come up with "Stainless Syle", a conceptual record about Mr. John DeLorean, a freak about cars made of steel with doors in the shape of wings - famous for appearing on the triptic «Back to the Future».

The official openning of the wings only happens in 2008, but the theme "Raquel" - an ode to a 60s pin up girl named Raquel Welch - is already speeding at the virtual freeway. It`s such a pop song, that the boys had to travel for hours towards an extinct past.

De hoje até domingo, em sete apresentações há muito esgotadas, O Cirque du Soleil vai tentar pegar fogo às águas do Atlântico. Um Delirium para os olhos para quem abriu os cordões à bolsa.

Como que para provar que o título «Distortion» é para ser levado a sério, os Magnetic Fields avançaram com a primeira amostra do disco que sairá em Janeiro. «Three-Way», o novo tema, é pontuado por um feedback de arranhar os tímpanos, um piano a deslizar em estilo clássico, uma guitarra a apanhar ondas de quatro metros num Hawai imaginário e, lá ao fundo, umas vozes que soam aos Pixies num dia verdadeiramente feliz. As if to prove that the title «Distortion» is to be taken seriously, the Magnetic Fields have advanced the first track of the album that will come out next January. «Three-Way», the new song, it`s ponctuated by a feedback able to clean up your ears ears, a piano that slides in a classic way, a guitar surfing four meter waves in an imaginary Hawai and, in the back, voices that sound like the Pixies in a happy day. O Daytrotter continua a sua missão de serviço público, desta vez dando destaque ao Caçador de Veados. Uma vez mais, além de dois temas saídos para a rua sob a forma de rodela sonora - "Heatherwood" e "Dr. Glass" -, oferece duas canções que nunca antes haviam chegado a uma mesa de mistura - "Activa" e "Calvary Scars". Só por sermos amigos do Bambi, desejamos que a caçada corra mal.

Daytrotter continues his mission on public service, this time giving special attention to the men who chase deers. Once again, besides the two tracks that have seen the light under the form of a circle of sound - "Heatherwood" e "Dr. Glass" -, we are presented with two tracks that have never seen a mixture table - "Activa" and "Calvary Scars". Only because we`re friends of Bambi, we wish the hunt to become a flop.

Sob controlo / Under control

Mas nem só de «Sunshine» - ou a procura do bronzeado perfeito para os lados de Mercúrio - viveu a sede cinéfila de fim-de-semana. «Control», o biopic sobre a vida de Ian Curtis de que fizémos o lançamento há poucos dias, revelou-se um dos grandes momentos cinematográficos de 2007.

Não esperem, porém, um desfilar da carreira dos Joy Division, ou uma descrição de como era a Inglaterra em vésperas da chegada do thatcherismo. «Control» é a história de um homem dividido entre a aldeia e a cidade, lutando com o anonimato e a fama, indeciso entre a fidelidade e a descoberta da paixão, preso numa doença onde o reflexo da morte andou sempre por perto. Um filme repleto de sombras, imerso em tristeza, pleno de grandiosidade, que coloca a poesia de Curtis onde de facto ela merece estar: nas alturas.




But not only with «Sunshine» - or the search for the perfect tan around Mercury - was fed the cinematic thirst during the weekend. «Control», the biopic about Ian Curtis life, turned out to be one of the great cinematic moments of 2007.

Don`t wait for a march of the career of Joy Division, or a description of how was England on the eve of the thatcherism arrival. «Control» is the story of a man divided between the village and the city, fighting with anonymity and fame, undecided between fidelity and the discovery of passion, trapped in a disease where the reflex of death was always present. A movie full of shadows, immersed in sadness, full of grandeur, that puts the poetry of Curtis where in fact it should be: the heights.

«Sunshine» (Missão Solar) foi, segundo Danny Boyle, uma tentativa de transmitir ao género sci-fi um toque de intelectualidade. Se quisermos, realizar um «2001 - A Space OdYssey» («2001: Odisseia no Espaço») para as novas gerações. Porém, se no início quase juramos estar perante uma chuva de estrelas, cedo nos apercebemos de que afinal nos dirigimos para um triste buraco negro. Chamar-lhe fraquinho já será um grande elogio.



«Sunshine» (Missão Solar) was, according to Danny Boyle, a shot to give the sci-fi genre a touch of intelectuality. If we want, to direct a «2001 - A Space OdYssey» («2001: Odisseia no Espaço») for the new generations. And, if in the beggining we almost swear we`re watching a rain of falling stars, soon we realize we`re heading to a sad black hole. To classify this film as "a little weak" can be considered a high praise.

It`s already public the two names that will join Andy Roddick and David Ferrer in the yellow ball Masters Cup semi-finals. Roger Federer smashed Andy Roddick (6-4, 6-2), and got near reaching planet perfection. The suiss will now play Rafael Nadal, who defeated a disappointing Djokovic (6-4, 6-4). In the other games, Ferrer made three-in-a-row against Gasquet (6-1, 6-1), while Davydenko had his firt winning against González that, after beating Federer, stopped thinking about tennis. Tomorrow morning will be played the access to the big final. That, in our humble opinion, will be a replay match between Federer and Roddick.

Estreou hoje na Lusitânia o biopic «Control», um filme em estilo de slide-show sobre a vida daquele que foi, em tempos, o vocalista dos Joy Division. A acreditar nas palavras crítica, a fita mostra Ian Curtis como um homem comum, não cedendo à tentação de o apresentar como um mito. Fica o caminho para o trailer e a entrada na atmosfera de uma das bandas mais marcantes da história da música.





The first screening of «Control», a kind-of-a-slide-show movie about the life of Joy Division`s once in a lifetime lead singer, happened today in Portugal. Believing in the words of the press, the film shows Ian Curtis as a simple man, avoiding the tentation of presenting him as a myth. Here is the road to reach the trailer, and the smell of the atmosphere that surrounded one of the bands that made history with music.

"Song to Bobby", primeira amostra do novo disco de versões de Chan Marshall, já circula no mundo virtual. O tema é um original da menina Cat Power, escrito como homenagem e a pensar em Bob Dylan. Jukebox» vai estar nas lojas no dia 21 de Janeiro do próximo ano, e terá dois temas originais além das versões. Este é um deles.





"Song to Bobby", first track to be revealed from Chan Marshall’s new covers record, is already flowing into the virtual world. The song is an original from Cat Power, written as an hommage and thinking about Bob Dylan. «Jukebox» will be released on the 21st of January next year, and besides the cover songs will have two originals. This is one of them.

Entre a normalidade e a estranheza / Between normality and strangeness

A segunda jornada da Masters Cup voltou a ficar situada algures entre uma aparente normalidade e uma fascinante estranheza. Ontem, Rafael Nadal foi surpreendido pelo hermano David Ferrer (4-6 6-4 6-3), que garantiu um inesperado lugar nas meias-finais. Já o francês Richard Gasquet deitou por terra as aspirações de Djokovic seguir em frente, vencendo o sérvio em apenas dois sets (6-4, 6-2). O francês compete agora com Nadal pela última vaga deste grupo, mas é o espanhol que parte em vantagem.

Já hoje, o relógio Federer voltou a dar sinais de paragem - 39 erros não forçados! -, mas acabou por levar de vencida Nikolay Davydenko (6-4, 6-3). O russo disse no final que Federer está a ficar velho. Andy Roddick, esse, está a jogar em alta voltagem. O americano garantiu um lugar nos quatro finalistas depois de vencer Fernando González (6-1, 6-4), fazendo apenas sete erros não forçados durante toda a partida. A última vaga deste grupo será disputada entre Federer e González. O suiço parte em vantagem.

The second round of the tennis Masters Cup was again placed somewhere between an apparent normality and a fascinating strangeness. Yesterday, Rafael Nadal was surprised by his hermano David Ferrer (4-6 6-4 6-3), who already reserved a seat in the last four. As for Richard Gasquet, destroyed in just two sets (6-4, 6-2) all Djokovic hopes to go through. The french now disputes with Nadal the last group vacancy, but it`s the spaniard that takes the lead.

Today, the Federer clock threatened to stop again - 39 unforced errors! -, but in the end defeated Nikolay Davydenko (6-4, 6-3) who said Federer was getting old. As for Andy Roddick, the man is playing in a state of high voltage. The american made a reservation to the last four after beating Fernando González (6-1, 6-4), making only seven unforced errors during all the match. The last seat will be decided between Federer and González. The suiss has the advantage, but now he has to play Roddick...

O regresso da magia / The return of magic

Há uma infinidade de anos atrás, a magia habitava as ruas de Inglaterra como hoje se passeiam o smog e a poluição por Londres. No Grupo Dourado, no dia 1 da competição, a armada espanhola tomou de assalto os mares de Shanghai. Rafael Nadal venceu Richard Gasquet por 2 sets a 1 (3-6, 6-3 e 6-4) enquanto que, o bravo e destemido capitão David Ferrer, afundou a poderosa embarcação sérvia baptizada de Novak Djokovic (por um duplo 6-4).

Já hoje pela fresquinha, e para o Grupo Vermelho, Andy Roddick venceu por 2 sets a 1 (6-3, 4-6 e 6-2) o russo Nikolay Davydenko. Já o relógio suiço, perante a visão animada de um Speedy González chileno, deixou de dar horas. As for the suiss clock, with the weird vision of an animated chilean Speedy González, simply stopped giving the time. A religião tem destas coisas. Por vezes, com o aproximar do Natal e o virar de página para mais um ano, mesmo o ateu mais convicto se converte a uma qualquer religião, motivado pela ideologia do amor ao próximo.

«It’s not how far you fall, it’s the way you land», dos Soulsavers, é um caso bem sucedido de pregação. Contando com a voz repleta de cicatrizes do pastor Mark Lanegan, o disco actua como um ritual de celebração, um transe no qual nos deixamos levar de alma escancarada.

Apesar de se notarem na leitura destes salmos influências como a do apóstolo Sparklehorse, trata-se de um sermão com direito a edição própria, saindo como separata a uma nova e renovada Bíblia. Esta é a banda-sonora ideal para todas as excursões e peregrinações com destino a Fátima.

Um país para gente nova / A country for young people

O próximo filme da dupla Coen, a quem não poupamos rasgados elogios, adapta para o grande ecrã «No Country For Old Men», romance do escritor Cormac McCarthy - autor do soberbo «A Estrada», obra premiada este ano com o Pullitzer.

Com Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones e Josh Brolin nos principais papéis, a acção desenrola-se nos anos 80, seguindo os passos de um veterano do vietname que, após um negócio de droga que deu para o torto, desvia uma mala contendo uma pequena fortuna. O que ele não sabe é que a mala dispõe de um sistema electrónico de localização, o que o vai tornar num homem perseguido por dois assasinos da pior espécie.

No mercado bem frequentado do Rotten Tomatoes, o índice de frescura anda pelos 95%. A estreia na Lusitânia não está ainda marcada, pelo menos até 31 de Janeiro do próximo ano. Choremos vendo o trailer oficial.



Next movie from the Coen brotherhood, a pair we say a prayer everyday, adapts to the big screen «No Country For Old Men», a novel from the writer Cormac McCarthy - author of the astonishing «The Road», presented this year with the Pullitzer.

With Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin in the leading roles, the action will take place during the 80`s, following the steps of a vietmam veteran that finds a suitcase containing a small fortune, after a drug transaction that went wrong. What he doesn`t know is that the suitcase contains a tracking device, wich will release two hired assassins - of the worst kind - on his tail.

In the well attended market of Rotten Tomatoes, the level of freshness goes up to 95%. In Portugal there is still no date for the premiere, at least until the 31th of January next year. Let`s cry watching the official trailer.

Os polícias da alma

Para quem tinha ficado com dúvidas metereológicas depois do frio cortante que soprou no SBSR, a previsão climática confirmou-se. Enterrem os sonhos de uma relação estável, esqueçam as ideias de um passeio romântico à beira-mar, não dêem largas à alegria que vos circula no corpo. Os Interpol são uma banda onde habita a tristeza e nós agradecemos-lhes sentidamente por isso.



Num Coliseu dos Recreios mais concorrido que o Harrods em época de saldos, os Interpol revisitaram uma carreira de três longas-duração, percorrendo em hora e meia uma viagem que demorou sete anos a planear. Dos tempos mais irreverentes ao estado de acalmia que esconde uma melancolia ainda maior, os nova-iorquinos mostraram-nos as suas feridas, partilharam a sua dor, cantaram de modo furioso as sombras que os cercam. Um funeral que foi uma festa, uma procissão eléctrica através dos recantos menos iluminados da alma. Em certas alturas, para ser épico, o céu não precisa de estrelas. Apenas do reconfortante negrume.

For those who had kept weather doubts after the cutting cold that blew at the SBSR, the climate prediction has been confirmed. Burry the dreams of a stable relationship, forget the ideias of a romantic ride by the sea, do not give wide joy to the happiness that circulates through your body. Interpol are a band which inhabits the sadness, and we thank them for that.

In a Coliseum more disputed than Harrods on sales season, Interpol have revisited a carrer of three LP`s and a EP, travelling in an hour and a half one path that took seven years to plan.

From more irreverent times to a state of calm that only hides a greater melancholy, the New Yorkers showed us their wounds, shared their pain, sang in a furious way the shadows that surround them. A nova aventura cinéfila de Ridley Scott, filmada a partir de um argumento de Steven Zaillian («Schindler's List», «Gangs of New York»), conta a história de alguns traficantes de droga que, nos anos setenta, faziam transportar heroína para os Estados Unidos dentro de caixões de soldados americanos mortos no Vietname. Com Ridley Scott e Russel Crowe nos papéis de destaque, «American Gangster» tem tudo para se tornar num dos filmes mais falados do ano. No mercado municipal do Rotten Tomatoes, o índice de frescura anda pelos 79%. Trailer.



Depois do electrizante «A History of Violence», David Cronenberg decidiu-se por uma incursão ao mundo da máfia russa implantada em Londres, escolhendo Naomi Watts e Vincent Cassel para fazerem companhia ao repetente Viggo Mortensen. Segundo a crítica, tem uma cena para a qual a palavra "gore" é um miminho. No Festival de Cinema de Toronto, «Eastern Promises» recebeu o Prémio do Público. Na horta biológica do Rotten Tomatoes, o índice de qualidade anda pelos 89%. Trailer.

Vai uma fresquinha?

Com uma turma para além do excedentário (11 jogadores, dois fiscais-de-linha e um árbitro), «aquele que não se pode dizer o nome» veio a Setúbal em visita de estudo assistir à conferência «Como jogar futebol a sério e sem batota».
